Firstly, I would like to say thank you to those who have contacted me. I do appreciate your questions and observations but have to point out that I am contracted to ‘The Cabinet' and unfortunately I can only respond via the auspices of their big umbrella that shields us all from inclemency.
I do enjoy reading all your letters however and hope you will continue to send me your musings.
On now to my patient today a Mr Jamie Lenton.

As you know The President has referred you to my clinic for an initial assessment of your mental health.
I have to express my concerns at this point about your symptoms and wonder whether you should have been seen many months ago-it is a shock to me that this has gone on so long without you seeking help
( I wonder also about your friends didn’t they not encourage you to seek help sooner!)
Please get in touch with my secretary Lena longbottom whom will be happy to squeeze you in.

On the 20th Mr Lenton replied;
Dear Dr Wang,
I am unable to come in the clinic to see you as I will be elsewhere. Perhaps we could schedule a time outside of clinic. The truth is I called Lena Longbottom and it turns out she is an ex of mine known to me previously as Charlie. We had a long complicated affair and it has left me in bits. I drink and party and generally cant get my shit together because of her. How could life be so cruel as to put this in my path, its like a Hollywood chick flick. All I ever wanted was to be great, to be the best I can. I find myself unfocused and lacking discipline…what can I do…, Can you help? Fecking women and beer!

Dear Jamie,
What a lovely letter, thank you for being so open. You know your problem already Jamie which is of course the beginning to any cure ‘you keep it all in’, in doing so we fan the flames of fantasy and make more of ourselves than we are or conversely we don’t give ourselves enough credit and seek the safety of shadows. Jamie, since I started this service for big Phil I have received many emails about you from concerned on-lookers. One from a young man called Paddy who said; Jamie is a lovely guy but he needs to stop dancing in the spotlight on the podium and get down on the dance floor with the rest of us. Another gentleman named Scott wrote to me and said he worries about you day and night, ‘when will Jamie realise his talent and when will he accept we love him as he is’? Said Scott what do you think Jamie? Are you ready to let go of the George Best lifestyle and embrace the world of Ryan Giggs.
It’s a stark choice but it is the choice before you.

Dear Dr Wang,
This exchange has made me aware of how unkind I have been to myself and to my team mates. I see now that my lifestyle has been stopping me from stepping up. I have made a vow to myself to cut out the big times and enjoy the taking part. As you said, if I can be the kid next door then I can be everyone’s friend and maybe even marry the girl next door ) although I have always wanted a 4 bed detached. Anyway Dr Wang thank you.

Just to let you know. I called Lena Longbottom back to try and apologise for what happened between us and would you Adam and Eve it we are only seeing each other again. We are off to London for the weekend (my team mates will understand) to celebrate our coming together again and again and again. Thanks mate.
