OLD BOYS VS CITY REJECTS - 01 / 3 / 07
Premiership

With the winner knowing the title would be theirs to lose this game was the biggest of season 04

Team News
Old Boys
Stll missing Meluci due to suspension.
City Rejects
At full strength.

City Rejects seem to have inferior complex when facing Old Boys and that seemed to be in the minds of the boys as the game kicked off.

The game started very slowly with both teams using the ball very nervously. It was Muzzy who had the first chance but saw his effort fly high and wide of the white posts. City Rejects livewire Jason showed his ability as he weaved past Kim Green to fire his team 1-0 ahead and maybe City Rejects could now start to believe in themselves.
The goal seemed to add extra pressure to the normally free flowing Old Boys and their incisiveness showed, as they wasted a golden opportunity after Kim had earned them a free kick. Yet again both team looked reluctant to want to open the game up knowing the severity of losing this game.
M. Quinn hit a shot low to Suki's left but the pint sized hitman saw his effort rebound of the inside of the post but it was not long before Muzzy ghosted past big Gaz to fire Old Boys level, almost instantly Brian added another 2 goals as Rejects lack of belief started to kick in again.
Jason did however take the game by the scruff of the neck and hit his second with a clinical finish to arouse the Rejects fans on the balcony yet again though poor defending cot Rejects as they allowed Muzzy to extend the Old Boys advantage to 4-2. As half time loomed it was Rejects who looked the sprightliest and Dan hit a smart free kick taking full advantage of the direct free-kick rule, the ball nestling in the net.

Half Time             Old Boys 4 - 3 City Rejects

City Rejects Terry knew he had to keep his players geed up and sent them out positive for the second half.
It was new signing Mark Quinn who gifted Old Boys their first chance of the half but Muzzy couldn't capitalise on the gift. Brian didn't waste his chance as he robbed Quinny and blasted the ball home, the same player again hit the back of the net as Rejects defence was no where to be seen.
Mark Quinn’s woes continued as the striker missed a guilt edged chance to sum up his performance in the game. Old Boys continued to play keep ball and made 13 passes unanswered which started to frustrate Rejects players, Moggy who in previous games had been eye catching let the red mist descend as he allowed experienced player Kim Green to take his mind of the game in hand.
It was however Kim Green who downed Moggy just inside the Old Boys halve to win Rejects a free kick player manger Terry dispatched the kick to pull his team just two behind.
The game turned into a trench war with Old Boys using spoiling tactics and City Rejects fighting for their title hopes. They attacked the Old Boys rear guard only to have Gaz robbed by Kim who laid it off to Muzzy who in turn slide Jazz in, who angled a nice right footer into the bottom corner to end Rejects hopes.
Mark Quinn only managed to strike the bar in the final minutes and it was an ecstatic Old Boys celebrating at the final whistle as they now look firm favourites to earn back to back Premiership titles.

5star Promotion says: "If City Rejects could just stick to their game for the full 28 minutes we really think they could beat Old Boys. Terry must be scratching his head to why his team always come up that little short against their title foes."

City Rejects manager Terry said:
“We threw it away."

Old Boys manager Jazz said:
"We knew this would be a tough game and we enjoyed the battle. "
