Welcome to Sunday league round up. Every week we review the 'week' gone by in association with NEWS in BRIEF
Pudlians 5 vs 2 M.V.P'S
The Business for picking up two wins
St George Utd 4 vs 15 Toon Army
A slow start to the game suited to newcomers St George Utd who found the pace more to their liking and looked the better team wasting chances though. Toon Army stepped up the pace and the introduction of Lil Dan was instrumental and took his team into a 6-1 lead at the break. St George mounted a comeback early doors in the second half but their lack of match fitness cost them in the end and Toon Army went home deserved winners.
City Seagulls will view this like a win as they showed they can really compete with the best in the Division. The shared spoils were on reflection the correct result in a good footballing match in which both teams keepers excelled.
Lloyds Bar 5 vs 7 Cov Legion
Lloyds Bar gave an excellent account of themselves as they pushed Cov Legion all the way. Had it not been for some poor shooting Lloyds Bar could have sneaked away with a results but goals win games and Legion were just that bit sharper.
Champion’s league is where the best ply there trade and the two sides on show were littered with big names, big hearts and big egos so an explosive game was expected and the teams dually delivered. End to end with passion riding high, as both teams set out to win at all costs. The game was played in a good competitive spirit up until the final 5 minutes when the game turned sour but overall Excelsior deserved the points and a win on the board in this illustrious Cup competition.
FC Butterbean 2 vs 5 Old Boys
FC Butterbean failed to hold on to a 2-0 lead in this tough encounter. A major howler from Old Boys goalkeeper Suki Singh made it look like it may just be Butterbeans night as the Plums fought for every ball and won 80% of challenges inspirational leader Liam was again in dominating form as he marshalled Dave's Butterbean rearguard. They couldn't hold out and succumb to the magical feet of Meluci who hit four of his teams 5 goals
A dust up at dusk best describes this fiery tussle in the Super Cup. This feud has many branches and the fixture divides friends who become enemies for 28 minutes. Despite a low scoring first half which FC Heat lead 2-1 the game exploded into life in the second half as the pace intensed and the tempers flared. City Seagulls were at one point down to 3 men after Joe Barr was red carded for a wild lash at FC Heat Bosnian playmaker Mercid who then proceeded to check Joe for nits, both saw red. Then Cliff Darby of the Seagulls was sin binned for a clumsy tackle, it was perhaps this period which saw Heat cross the finish line as winners.

The Playerz got out of jail as they faced losing for a second time on the night. M.V.P'S missing an AWOL Danny Bell and the retired Gavin Lee had a four goal advantage at one point in the game and should have gone onto win it but Playerz keeper Jecko whose one man barricade seemed to inspire his boys in front into action and late goals from Gino and Chucksee sealed the game for The Playerz.
Allstar Rev 5 vs 2 The Playerz
Crossbar 5 vs 13 The Business
Friday side Celtic IT Box were good value as they held Sunday side FC Heat. Both teams first outing in the Super Cup produced a good game to watch with both teams scoring at will. Hayden (3) for C.I.B and Jason (4) for FC Heat the pick of the scorers
Jason (6), John and Rob (3) doing the damage for The Business
M.V.P'S 7 vs 10 The Playerz
If you catch the Allstars when they are hot you will get burned and thats what happened to The Playerz. Allstar Revolution on their day are too good for anyone and it was certainly their day as they swept aside the Playerz in this gritty encounter. Striker Hamed was back to his best netting two and named man of the match.
Both teams had a player dissmissed for foul play in this dogged mid table clash. The Business deserved their victory at the final whistle.
A massive win for the Pudlians and proved they belong in the division Tom (3), Mark C and Dec the goal getters for the Pudlians. A brace from Ollie including a wonderstrike of a free kick was all the M.V.P'S could muster.
St George Utd 5 vs 10 The Business
Football Factory 6 vs 3 Cov Jags
There are worrying times over at the Jags manor as they again failed to pick up a win this time defeat was handed to them by the bottom side.
GSH 6 vs 6 Danny's Boys
GSH recent surge in form was halted by mid table Danny's Boys. International striker Steve hit 8 goals as the Danny's Boys condemned GSH to their second taste of league defeat.
Drive By FC 12 vs 9 Cov Jags
The Despair continued as Drive By FC trounced Cov Jags in this one sided affair. New signing Andy Watts Jr showing his pedigree with an excellent display.
M.Barnets 5 vs 4 Danny's Boys
Barnets goalkeeper Chris was the hero of the half hour as the 'cat' pounced around like Gordon Banks on speed. The keeper kept out hotshot Steve and that left Johnny Wilkinson and Nick Janda to hit braces and add that to Andy's goal and you get a very satisfying victory.
A hat trick from Johnny Wilkinson was not enough for Barnets to take maximum points on the night. Andy W Jr again proved his potential with an excellent performance.
