INTER GIRLS SEASON 06

INTER GIRLS SEASON 06

Welcome Ian,

Not many get to take the seven questions and the chosen few who do must of accomplished something in the history of this business so Ian welcome to the spotlight

Thank you for inviting me to speak to you as it shows Inter Girls must be doing something right.

It’s P.P.V time again and this time the offering is GREATNESS and to be great you must do great things so can your team Inter Girls beat Division One champions elect Mean Machine in the REDS CUP Final

I think that we have what it takes to come out as the REDS CUP winners. We were the losing finalists last year and we don’t want to hold a record for back-to-back final defeats.

You talk about last season’s final in which you were heavily beaten by Diddy Tooters have you learned from that disastrous match?

That we need to play better! Last seasons final really was a disaster for us and we have the chance to put that to bed. For some of the squad, myself included, last season was our first appearance in a final and maybe nerves got to us. This time round we know what to expect and should be better prepared.

You are going to need special players to win this final and in Lee K you have the best striker outside the Premiership tell us the inside story on this 60+ goal machine

Lee really is a great player and his goals are one of the reasons why we have had such a good season this time round. I’m sure every team out there would love a player of Lee’s calibre as he can take teams apart when he wants to. Fortunately for me I know he won’t be going anywhere. As our semi-final against Drogs Ballacks showed other teams have to adapt to deal with him which in turn allows more time for our other players.

The match will not just hinge on Lee but will be a team effort so can you tell us about the rest of your team and what they bring to the match.

I think at the minute we have a really good squad, much better than at this time last season. We’ve just signed Arfan to play in goal who is one of the best keepers within 5 Star. In front of him we have Hall Of Fame member Raff and Friday International captain Steve Bolas, both of whom are very solid and reliable. I’m sure you are aware of how good Steve can be due to recent international results.

As well as Lee up front we have Nick Frost who is also a great striker and he and Lee have a good partnership. Andy is a player who can play at the back or up front and has a great engine on him. He never stops running and I don’t think I have ever seen him score a tap in despite having a good goal tally. Finally we have new signing Jonathan who has chipped in with some important goals since signing, and me, though sometimes it feels like I’m only there to make up the numbers!

Now Mean Machine are a formidable team and on their day can destroy teams with their direct but very affect style, what’s your view on Mean Machine?

As you say Mean Machine are a good team though I think they have a bit of a reputation for being a rough team. People don’t like it when they are closed down quickly and Mean Machine do that well which is probably where their rep comes from. They have some good players who Raff and Steve will have to be on top form to keep quiet. They’re keeper especially has always looked very solid when I have watched them play so I’ll be hoping he has an off day.

League wise you have improved and win or lose this final what is the future for Inter Girls?

We have had a better season in the league but I am a bit disappointed that we have fallen away from the promotion race. We had some consistency problems early on and I think that has cost us in the end. If we can keep our current form, the Indoor Milan game aside, and keep improving I wouldn’t see a third final appearance and promotion to the premiership as being out of our grasp. One thing for sure is that we will keep trying to do our best in every game we play.

As we draw to a close we ask you tell the readers how the final will break down?

I think our final with Mean Machine is going to be a very close game with maybe only one or two goals in it. We both like to attack so it should be fast paced, end-to-end stuff, and hopefully a good game for those watching from the balcony. Ultimately, as always in football, anything could happen.

Thank you for your time and we wish you luck in the REDS Cup Final at Greatness.

Thank you, it’s been a pleasure.
