7 Question - Danny Thompson

It’s been a long time coming but Finally News in Brief has sat down with perhaps the most electrifying man in all of football entertainment… so let’s get it on!!

We will start of by addressing the old Danny Thompson (3-4 season’s ago). Back then you were a very different player, a player who relied on aggression and power to gain you personal glory but back then you never a massed any real team glory (Cov Legion day’s) so tell us about the change that has made you become one of our most decorated champions

I always rely on aggression and power to be honest with you but I’d say I have changed a bit because if I didn’t I’d probably spend more time off than on the pitch. And the way the leagues are now I’d say I’m more adapted then when I was at the legion.

You seem to have found homes at both Never Enough and Something Else and in season 05 you created history by becoming the first person to win both Premiership titles and different nights in the same season, how did the feel?

Yeah I have we are close mates on both teams which makes it a whole lot easier. It felt really good especially on the Friday cause it went right to the wire and to beat Excelsior on the last game of season to win the league just made it the whole lot better also because of the rivalry between the teams.

You were scheduled to play Boys r Back at the first P.P.V Revenge and with Greatness just around the corner you will face off against Boys r Back in a pivotal match in the season 06 Friday title race how do you see the game going?

I can see it being just as tight as the last game there always great battles through out the whole game but you know what I’m going to say….. well you will have to wait and find out.

You’re labelled by many as the ‘Hitman’ due to your ruthless finishing and goal tallies over season’s gone by. Which other strikers do you rate within the leagues?

Hitman well I don’t know about that but I’m happy with it. Well everyone knows there are a lot of great finishers. But will have to say.

There’s plenty more and the lad who plays for K.Kobras (Matty) he scored too quality goals past us on Friday I’d be proud of them.

You recently spent a few weeks on the sidelines due to fatigue and illness and in that time your Sunday team Never Enough went into disarray and were close to folding but now they and you face 3 massive games which could lead you to back to back titles, With the teams you are facing being of outstanding abilities (Playerz, Allstar Revolution and FC Butterbean) can you do the necessary and do what many thought you couldn’t and win the Sunday Premiership once again?

Yeah it weren’t a good time for me I feel a lot better now though…. You can hardly say it was all down to me the team is strong enough with out me there. We have a great team and I feel with Dave Jones now playing for us we can win all three games and win the league again but u never know what will happen there three excellent teams on there day so we’ll go out play the way we do and hopefully win.

You have played with some great players and some not so great players in your illustrious 5 a side career so far. List your all time best 7 man squad including a goalkeeper and manager also give us the reason’s why?......Can I just say S.Else only joking (Laugh’s)

Gk) Matty Gee : S.Else I don’t need to explain his ability

Df) Dave Jones : S.Else - since playing at the back for us he has been a rock nothing really gets past him.

Df) Gavin Lee : Excelsior - Another player on his day is quality and is hard to get past.

Mid/def) Moggy: City Rejects - This is a player who will piss you off and will put you off your game and is very good at it.

Mid/Att) Steve R : S.Else - quality player never backs out of a challenge and scores some great goals.

Att) Brian: Boys r Back - Never stops running and causes a lot of problems against teams.

Att) Muzo : Playerz - For a big lad he’s very agile and has quick feet also very strong and has a very powerful shot.

Manager : I would have to go with a joint manager as both my current managers are very good and have different qualities so both Andy Watts and Matty Gee will do.

Finally Danny you have won most things on offer within the Club Heat leagues but the one that is missing from the cabinet is the sought after title of President Cup winners which is viewed as the tournament that crowns the best of the best is this cup on the Something Else and the Hitman’s radar this time round?

Yes it is I love winning who doesn’t…. I’m also a very bad loser but I admit that. We came so close last year but we lost to Excelsior. It was a great game to play in they stunned us straight away got in are faces didn’t give us any space well you don’t get much on the small pitch anyway. But before we knew it we were 5 - 0 down the ended
6 - 6 and we lost on pens. But it was a great game. I’m hungry to win it this year and I believe we will this year.
