The night that always gives us hard, end to end non stop action and season 06 was no different.
We crowned new Premiership Champions while Mark Quinn main evented a P.P.V
SO HERE IS THE FINAL LOOK AT WHAT WAS AN AMAZING SEASON 06
Boys R Back

Many players title favourites at the beginning of the season. Had a sloppy start losing there first encounter to Something Else but after that small blip never lost again. The introduction of Kim Green was the key to there title giving them the solidity at the back they missed last season.
They added a third Presidents Cup trophy to their name and now must stand alone as the all time best team in history.

Honours: Premiership, League Cup Winners and President’s Cup Winners

Something Else

A great start to the campaign saw them top the table early on and remain there until a poor slump in form saw them lose 3 games and lose the club heat cup semi final 10-4 to Boys R Back. Some of there big players went missing as the campaign drew to a close.
They should really have done better with the players at hand.

Honours: Champions League Winners

FC Your Mum

Well what can I say, relegation candidates at the beginning of the season but some fantastic results along the way beating the likes of Excelsior and ECCC and drawing with Something Else. The Big man up front Will “Peter Crouch” was key to his team’s goalscoring and the star signings of Chris and John proved to be a managerial masterstroke as so many teams failed to handle them.

Excelsior

Millers Appeal

A good solid season for Millers. Some thought they’d struggle but a good start to the campaign was key and that’s what they got. Mark Quinn in top goalscoring form early on but fizzled out towards the final quarter, but a solid backline with Arfan taking up the gloves ensured they remained in the hunt for 3rd spot for most of the season.

Next Best Thing

An improvement of sorts from their first season with the capture of the Club Heat Cup beating favourites Boys R Back was a big boost. A couple of sloppy losses were what let them down with inconsistency in players turning up, otherwise a higher league position was definitely on the table.

Honours: Club Heat Cup Winners

K.Kobras

A satisfying campaign for Ollie and his lads, a mid table finish was expected and they dually delivered. In form striker Matty had an excellent season when he showed up but all too often missed vital games.

Honours: Fairplay league Winners

RSVP

A slow start to the season saw them propping up the table for long periods. Beating the lower teams was what was expected of them and with strikers like Lee Konrath and Nick Frost they were always going to cause problems which they often did. Missed the no committed Joe Barr throughout the season but did show glimpses of a strong outfit.

Mozzies Army

There was some hype about this team during pre season with some high expectations after some impressive displays but all too often there fitness and love for a pint or 7 let them down as they struggled to get through a whole match. Next season though sees the key signing of Steve Reece from Something Else.

Wonderers

Left it late for survival but did it with style showing experience counts for a lot. What they lacked in pace they had in commitment and desire to remain in the top flight and continue playing on the big pitch where Steve relishes the passing game.

Dizzy Tooters

They never gave up hope and turned up week in week out, sometimes with the bare minimal but always keen to put in a performance. Looked like it might have paid off with 4 games remaining as they put in some good wins but left it too late to stay up and might feel a new start is whets needed in the lower league.

Mean Machine

Well what can you say about these guys, gave us everything we could wish for, drama, good football, big debates but most of all consistency, they went on a run of 17 games unbeaten and never really looked like losing the league even with the suspension of key Player Daz Cook. They had quality throughout from Goalkeeper Ant right through defence with Lee Long and the goalscoring form of Daz Cook and Declan. Deserved double champs.

Honours: Division One Winners, Reds Cup Winners and N.T.C Winners

Sweden FC

Looked like the only team to catch Mean Machine at one point but the decisive game between the two ensured they would have to sweat it out over second place. Lil Ash, Adam and Gav, all under 18 years old inspired them at times and with the signing of experienced Gavin Lee at the back they had everything going for them and thoroughly deserved there promotion.

Drogs Ballacks

Early title contenders saw them dominate some games with the flair of Brazilian Carlos, but after his departure half way through the season saw them fall a little behind. They rectified that later on with some impressive displays but couldn’t quite keep with the top two, next season will be a good season for them with manager Keith expecting some silverware.

The Goonies

Threw it away in the final week. Had everything in place for a 2nd place finish and with only sunshine and mean machine to play just one win would’ve been enough to see them gain promotion and most would agree Sunshine wouldn’t have been strong enough. Two wins would’ve seen them top the league providing they scored more than 8 goals, as it happened they failed to show for them both and lost them 6-0. Title favourites next term though without a doubt with free scoring Chris Partridge and Tim Partridge back at the helm.

Inter Girls

A surprise to see them so high up the table for many, but with some sly swoops in the transfer market bringing in the likes of Raff and Steve Bolas and goalkeeping sensation Arfan towards the end of the season was key to them finishing where they did, oh and the 70+ goals that Lee Konrath bought helped too.

Fifty7 FC

A tidy season for these boys, although I had them down as a top 3 finish at the beginning of the season they took there time finding there feet, and with an irregular team each week not helping matters they did well to finish where they did, some good individual performances from Brett Sanders Dave Burgam and manager Mark Andrews were the highlight to there season.

Sunshine

The name was thought up because they were to bring a fresh ray of light to the league. Didn’t happen though until the final third as they found themselves being heavily beaten on more than a few occasions. They started pre season in top form but after the departure of influential midfielder Jordan they slumped further down the table and sat firmly at the bottom for most of the season. There final push was helped as Jordan returned and the introduction of a couple of new faces pushed them forward and they found a win followed by 3 more to move them off the bottom.

Cold Beers Hot Women

Cold Beers had a topsy turvey season, one week turning up with 3 subs, next with only 4 players. Even star man Stefan Gajewski failed to live up to his reputation this season as the students found it tough going.

5Star Rating **
M.V.P - Stefan G

Celtic

Changed their manager round more times than there team which couldn’t have helped morale, not sure if they were coming or going at times but when they were fully equipped made teams work for the win, struggled to score and keep the lead in majority of games.

5Star Rating **
M.V.P - Matty

The Business

Pretty much let themselves down with 4 no shows as there season caved in towards the end, with bad boys Jon and Jase finding the liquor too hard to resist signs of Gazza were starting to peek through and as so many young footballers find it hard at the top, so did these two and they never really regained control of there team pulling out towards then end of the campaign.
