A former PPV headliner now finds himself back in the spotlight as his Sunday team City Rejects battle the Old Breed Merchants so
NEWS in BRIEF sat down and got his thoughts...
MARK QUINN

MARK QUINN

Hi Mark,

Welcome back to the News in Brief offices we have missed you!!

Thanks, it has been a while since I have been involved in a PPV and also with News in Brief so it’s a pleasure to be back.

You got it right Mr Quinn it’s PPV time and once again the 5Star World is buzzing with excitement ahead of the event. You headlined the Bad Intentions PPV in season 06 which had a successful web hits buyrate, what is it about PPV matches and events that are different to regular weekends?

Well it’s all about the big clashes, grudge games and the chance to prove a point to the 5 Star World.
These are the games which define your season and really are the games you have to win if you are serious about winning titles. A failure in a PPV can have an adverse effect on your team and deal an early blow to your ambitions.

Your part of the main event again this time round for City Rejects. The team has rose from its knees and you are part of a talented squad now, manager Terry Heard (H.O.F) is out at the moment due to a major operation, what words do you have to describe Terry and his managerial style?

Terry is one of the nicest blokes out there and a really fair manager. He never thinks badly of people and you will never hear a bad word out of his mouth about anyone. As a manager he treats everyone with respect and makes you want to go out and perform for him. I am glad he got put in the hall of fame as he is a respected and long standing member of the 5 Star World.

Merchants are your opponents at the PPV and their record is there for everyone to see, the word untouchables is being used when describing these undoubted greats do you see them as that?

No, not at all. I have been in teams which have beaten them and even in some games this season they have not looked untouchable. We have played against them so many times so we know what to expect from, it’s a difficult task to stop them but I am sure we can do it, We have assembled a team of fantastic players, quite possibly the strongest Rejects team yet.

Rejects secured the services of the very talented Scott Hennell early on this season.
He is highly rated and since you have been playing alongside him what is your take on the ‘Ginger Assassin’?

Well it was myself and Danny Thompson who pushed for the signing of Scott as we were both fully aware of just how good he is. I have not really been able to form a partnership with him as I have either been injured or been playing more defensively, which I don’t mind as I see myself more of a team player than someone who needs to score goals. With Thommo and Scott as your striking force I’m happy to do my bit where needed. I would prefer to have a rotation of myself, Scott and Thommo but it hasn’t happened yet. But Scott in my opinion is one of the best finishers in the leagues and adds a dimension to the team we have been lacking.

The other Sunday main event sees City Seagulls headline against Indoor Milan, are you surprised at the ‘push’ the Seagulls are getting this season and can they really build a Legacy?

No not really, Seagulls have improved so much since they first started its quite remarkable. I do however think if they were to lose Lee Konrath they would struggle at times as he makes a massive difference to their team. They have been in the leagues for as long as I can remember so it’s nice to see teams like them getting a push. Many other players seem to really dislike them as a team, I wasn’t their biggest fan but they have grown on me over the last couple of seasons. They have an air of arrogance about them though which can grind on people. On their Legacy page under City Rejects it says “mission completed”, I don’t get it, they have beaten us once or twice when we struggled for a team or were in our transitional period. If your mission is to gain one win against a team and then be happy with that then fair play to them.

So next Sunday is over how does the Highlight of the Week see PRIDE’S matches pan out and mainly do Rejects beat Merchants..?

It is such a tough one for us against the Merchants but yes we do beat them in my opinion.
I just think our team as it is looking really has everything about it to overcome any odds. I think Indoor Milan will beat City Seagulls, id like a Seagulls win but I can’t see them winning this one.
G14 vs Arsenal will be a win for Arsenal I think. The experience Arsenal have will outweigh the young ambitions of G14.
Shake and Bake will beat Norfolk I think too, Steve Reece is such a good player I think he will run that game.
Drogs Ballacks which is my own team must beat Inter Girls, after a loss last week it has shown us that maybe we are not as strong as we think we are and we need to keep winning and really cant afford any more slipups.
Lastly Motley Barnets should beat Ten Left Feet, T.L.F keep quitting and returning and because of this they don’t seem to gather any momentum.

Before we go, it was the most read blog in History and with yourself back in the thick of the action is there any chance we will see the return of the QUINN - T - ESSENTIALS?

Who knows, I really don’t have time to hang around watching matches anymore just so I have content for the blog. I also rarely get any snippets of information from the spectating crowds so it would be a bit of a poor read I’m afraid.

Always a pleasure Mark and good luck against the Merchants.

Thank you, we shall make our own luck!
