"It is the pinnacle of football entertainment, the world cup of our industry. 16 of the best from both our Friday and Sunday Leagues, played in a question will be asked style format".
"We all knew the BIG four Something Else, Never Enough, Excelsior and the Playerz were pre tournament favourites and rightly so but what some never predicted was the level the rest of the field would raise their own games too. Diddy Tooters led the way with a fine and surprising 5-3 victory over season 05 Inter League Cup winners Cov Legion the Tooters victory shows how far they have come and they should be proud of their season 05 endeavours as they head into the sunset.
There was the FC Your Mum 4-1 mulling of Never Enough who become FC Your Mum’s best scalp to date but then there were two team performances that outshone the rest and that accolade goes to Lloyds Bar and FC Butterbean.
Firstly Lloyds Bar winners of the first ever Super Cup were backed to struggle to qualify from their Group D but Adam and his troops showed adaptability, courage and above all they played some excellent football they proved they can be a force in season 06.
Their run to final was only halted by FC Butterbean... now here is a team who only won 2-3 genuine league games in their first premiership debut many would of thrown in the towel many would off took their ball and gone home but they have showed what true desire and perseverance can bring you.
Most never backed them to even win a game, to be the whipping boys of group A, a 20-1 at the bookmakers, but I had a dream and boy did they step up and climb the Presidents Cup mountai and n preceded to take names along the way, eventual winners Excelsior, Pudlians and KV Tooters just to name a few.
Reaching the final was just as good as lifting the Presidents Golden Ball at the final whistle for FC Butterbean because they deserved their moment on the grandest stage of them all……..
The Presidents Cup"
A word on the winners
"Weather you buy into football entertainment or not everyone should respect focus and dedication to reach your goals and for Excelsior they have finally done just that. A team well known for self destructing on the big occasion they had dreams and intentions of winning the Friday CLUB HEAT Premiership title but failed in the final showdown the anguish of losing a member of their close unit Danny Bell to a severe injury only spurred them on to improve and nail the highest title of all CHAMPIONSofCHAMPIONS
To whom it concerns you had a dream of being the in sports centre on the big occasion the victor, it wasn’t the Sunday international win, it wasn’t even the league cup win…my friend your dream came to true on Sunday 13th January. Congratulations HALL of FAMER"
