ALLSTAR REVOLUTION

ALLSTAR REVOLUTION

NEVER ENOUGH

NEVER ENOUGH

This game will go down as one the most anticipated in history. Both teams were on the peripheral of the title a month ago but there they were standing in opposite halves of the pitch waiting for the whistle to blow for the one opportunity of GREATNESS

The whistle echoed through the hall as the game got underway with the usual bellow of Never Enough keeper Matty Gee in full force as he urged his team forward in the opening minutes. Never Enough looked unsettled as they wasted passes and possession in uncharacteristic fashion if they never showed nerves before they were on full view now and it was the ever confident Danny Thompson who allowed a well timed Nonnie pass drift away from him when it seemed easier to control and from the resulting throw out from Allstar keeper Arfan Hamed crashed a vicious strike past a helpless Matty Gee. Allstar Revolution stepped up the tempo and Never Enough were being caught cold as the impressive Waqqas was showing all his young talents and the striker made it two nil after jinxing past Scully to shoot low past Matty. Nothing Never Enough were trying was coming off and chance after chance was going begging with Noonie a guilty party hitting his 4yrd shot at the pace of a snail which infuriated ‘Captain/Manager/Keeper’ Matty Gee who cursed the lack of quality on show from his troops. Things went from bad to worse for Never Enough as some slick play between Maj and Waqqas saw Waqqas pass reach Hamed who had pulled off his marker to slash the ball past Matty 3-0 Allstar Revolution!!
It seemed as if it was going to be a cruise to victory for Revolution as they dominated all aspects of the game and that was even coupled with bowed Never Enough’s heads as the half time whistle approached, however Danny ‘Hitman’ Thompson hit a goal on the break to bring hope back and it also bought groans from the watching City Rejects players who wanted an Allstar win to keep up their own faint, faint hopes of winning the Premier title in tact.
With that goal the Ref bought the 1st period to an end.

The second half saw the game open up and Never Enough started to settle on the ball and play some decent football and in the final 4 minutes of the 1st half they took over as the dominant team but they were trying to force their game and midway through the second half they become desperate hitting shots from distance more in hope than anything else, the pressure they were exerting was starting to play on Allstars so the question was could they hold out? Amazingly though they got their noses 3 goals in front after a schoolboy pass by Johnny Brophy went straight to Hamed who gobbled up the chance with pleasure and the striker celebrated in spectacular fashion but that celebration could have been another premature ejaculation by the Allstar man as Scully who had been poor up until now came to life hitting a glorious low drive which nestled firmly in the bottom corner. “Six minutes left” was the cry from the Referee so it was now or never for both teams who wanted.. ‘To do Great things’ the most? The answer came in the form of International star Johnny B who mirrored the Scully goal and that hit meant 4-3 to Allstar Revolution but surely the Asian Allstars wouldn’t give up the work they had put in, not just tonight but the whole season, it all boiled down to these last 4 minutes, was fate playing it’s hand was the title destined for this, as Hamed broke clear and as in slow motion he hit the ball and as everyone from the watching balcony to the Cleaner watched the ball sway past Matty Gee’s hopeful glance then ‘Crash’ the yellow ball hit the inside of the post and rebounded to the waiting Danny Thompson who raced up the other end to equalise, Now fate was mentioned, Destiny was mentioned and NOW add GREATNESS to that list as Dave Jones rammed home the winner and bought BACK-BACK titles  for NEVER ENOUGH.
As the final whistle sounded dreams were fulfilled and hearts were broken……. It’s why we love our GAME!!!!!
