NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS
NEXT BEST THING vs  BOYS R BACK
Many were predicting a comfortable win for Boys R Back, although previous encounters had favoured Next Best Thing for the performances, all they lacked was the ability to keep the lead for the entire game, hopefully they would’ve learned from there mistakes and have the ability to take it to the next level.

Next Best Thing got off to the start they were after as they took the initiative after some lapsy daisy defending allowed Dave the freedom to slot past Sucki. They held onto the lead for some time soaking up a lot of pressure, but defending fantastically and frustrating the Boys R Back forcing them into making errors and giving the ball away, but some sloppy play themselves allowed Mel to score the equaliser with Pete holding onto the ball a little too long giving Kim the chance to snatch it away and provide the pass for Mel to score.
Next Best Thing picked up the pace after that and Ash began to cause problems with his direct running. It was Ash that scored Next Best Things second thanks to a mistake from Sucki as he allowed his weak shot to sneak underneath him.

After that Next Best thing seemed happy to sit back and soak up everything Boys R Back threw at them and they did it superbly. Pete was a rock at the back and had Mel sussed all game as he gave him absolutely no space or time. The half time scoreline of 2-1 was just deserved for Next Best Thing.

The Second half couldn’t have gone much better for NBT as Ash scored a free Kick almost straight away giving them a 2 goal cushion, Ash then stepped up a gear again his running at players caused them problems and even the experienced Kim Green struggled to cope at the back on his own as Ash again drove forward his shot this time coming back of the cross bar. Pete again clearing everything up at the back then released Ash who’s long range shot looked destined for the net only for him to see it crash against the post.
Next Best Thing were growing in confidence and their football showed it with some lovely passing football, keeping the ball well and frustrating The Boys R Back. It was Ash again that looked the most likely to score as he forced a fine save from Sucki.
Once again though, Next Best Thing looked like throwing all their good work away. with not long remaining Dave picked up the ball from GK Wayne on the edge of his own box and with no apparent danger sloppily passed the ball back across his own box straight to Mel who couldn’t really miss.
A nervous final 3 minutes followed as Boys R back looked to find the equaliser, bombarding the NBT goal but to no avail as Steve and Pete put themselves in the way of everything and it was Pete again that saw the run of Ash as he slipped the ball through for an incisive NBT break away for Ash to finally put the game beyond doubt and secure the clubs first major trophy..
Next Best Thing finally did what they failed to do in the league and outplay the Boys R Back AND actually win the game.
HOW THEY RATED
BOYS R BACK

Suki
A steady game for the veteran keeper was at fault for N.B.T third goal.
Rating 6

Kim Green
Isolated at the back when N.B.T counter attacked not one of the experienced player’s best games.
Rating 6

Muzzy
Very poor by his high standards was always on the edge of game.
Rating 5

Meluci
The former player of the season was disappointing on the night; his touch was poor and finishing why below the standard expected of this highly talented individual
Rating 5

Young Muzzy
Never got into the game at all and when he was the ball he was poor.
Rating 4

Stewart
The pace of the game passed the burly midfielder by struggled to get off his lethal strike.
Rating 5

Junior
The latest of the production line for Jazz but the youngster was way out of his depth on the night
Rating 4

NEXT BEST THING

Wayne
The keeper has been excellent all season and is surely a real candidate for keeper of season. Another solid game for the shot stopper.
Rating 8

Pete
The big defender had the Boys R Back players in his pocket all game. Excellent throughout and enhanced his reputation as one of the best pound4pound defenders in the company.
Rating 8

Ash
The star of the show as the attacker ran riot on the counter attack. The freshed face striker was dazzling on the ball and deserved to be on the winning side
Rating 8

Dave
Sometimes showboats and does a little to much but on this occasion he played within a team structure and contributed to the victory with his intelligent passing and movement
Rating 7

Steve
Player/manager was ecstatic with his team’s unfancied win. He provided the gritty side of the N.B.T and was full of running and endeavour for the course
