NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS
MILLERS APPEAL vs COV LEGION
HOW THEY RATED
The first time these two had met each other so noone really knew what was going to happen or what to expect.
It was Millers Appeal that started the brightest as Quinny found himself bursting through the middle early on and with only the keeper to beat somehow scuffed his shot and hit the bench in the corner. Minutes later Millers Appeal got themselves a penalty. Amraj stepped up to take it, but a fine save from Elliott forced the ball back to Quinny who miss hit his shot, fortunately it fell to Amraj who didn’t miss this time to give them a lead.
The lead didn’t last long though as Peden levelled the game with a screamer from distance. The game was flowing from one end to another and this time it was Millers’ Aggy that was guilty of missing a sitter as he found himself one on one with the keeper but he blazed his shot high and wide. Legion capitalised on the miss as they strolled down the other end with Thomkins finding Peden who slid it through to Noel to score a simple tap in.
Back up the other end within minutes and Amraj scored his second with a powerful effort that found the top corner to level the game again and then just before half time Aggy scored the first of 4 fantastic goals this game would see as he rasped a shot from just inside his opponents half to give the Millers a 3-2 half time lead.
The first kick of the 2nd period saw Thompkins level again with a long range curler that had the spectators on the balcony clapping.
Not to be outdone Amraj scored his second of the game with an excellent solo goal, megging james in the process and then Elloitt too giving Millers a 4-3 lead.
This was becoming a game of goals and Thompkins kept up the treat with the goal of the game as he took one touch just in his own half and hit on hell of a shot into the far corner leaving Arfan no chance at all.
Both teams were taking there chances well, and it was Paul's turn to get on the score sheet after some good work from Peden down the right, his pass found Paul running through whos first time shot was too strong for Arfan to keep out.
The introduction of Waqquas caused Legion some problems as he looked to inject some pace into his team and his running and enthusiasm gave Legion a few problems but it was Legion that still looked the more dangerous going forward as Noel picked up possession just over the half way line and using his strenghth to brush off the challenge from Aggy and Waqquas before scoring a good goal.
Millers pushed forward a little more but just didn’t have that spark in front of goal as they struggled to create any real threat in the closing moments. Even a penalty in the last minute didn’t give them a goal as Elliott pulled off a fine save.
MILLERS APPEAL
Arfan
Was not one of the keeper’s best games and saw a Tompkins shot straight from the kick off flash straight past him.
Rating 6
Tweedle
Found the physical presence of Cov Legion a bit over whelming.
Rating 5
Aggie
Was simply outdone by the sheer presence and determination from the Legion attack he was unable to make any impact with the ‘Aggie Bomb’
Rating 6
Waqquas
The young starlet proved he is still a work in progress
Rating 6
Amraj
Millers Appeals best player on the night and was always a threat on the Legion goal. Never got the help he needed in attack and was unable to carry the Millers on just his own shoulders.
Rating 7
Mark Quinn
A man famed for the Quinn T Essentials lacked the essentials as the pint sized striker failed to shine on the big stage. His movement and desire were not up to 100% and could now be surplus to requirements at the Millers.
Rating 4
Cov Legion
Elliot
An excellent showing from the man in the nets he has become a regular with Raff’s side and didn’t let his manager down.
Rating 8
Sean
More of a support player to his other players but done his job when needed.
Rating 7
Paul
Returned from a serious hand injury earlier than expected and the playmaker looked like he had never been away. Controlled the position between defence and midfield and don it with great effect.
Rating 7
Peden
This man was not going to be denied the win and along with Tompkins ran the show with their football abilities and physical presents. Millers just couldn’t contain him and the tall forward had his way for much of the game.
Rating 9
Tompkins
Man of the Match and for good reasons, finishing 10/10, dominance 10/10, passing 10/10… simply a 10/10 performance.
Rating 10
Noel
The enforcer of Cov Legion and his strength in the tackle was prominent in Legions win.
Rating 7
James
Complimented the attacking duo of Peden and Tompkins he was always good on the ball and also strong in the tackle.
