The game started off frantically with Mean Machine stamping there authority through a fabulous Free Kick from Dec leaving Arfan flat footed. Within minutes of the re-start they found themselves 2-0 up as the big defender Lee hit a super long range effort into the top corner.
Inter Girls game plan was out of the window but they pushed forward and as Andy was felled Lee Konrath stepped up to take the free kick and showed how deadly he is from set pieces as he crashed the ball in from distance to claw a goal back.
We were seeing a game full of excellent goals as well as some good football on show and Vic failed to disappoint with a cracking goal of his own for Mean Machine as he hit another long range effort which Arfan perhaps could’ve done better with but it gave them the 2 goal advantage again. Inter Girls once again pushed forward and began to see more of the ball, Lee Konrath and Nick Frost looking good up front together and it was Frosty that produced the goods this time going on a mazy run beating 2 players before slipping the ball underneath Anthony in the Mean Machine goal. 3-2 to Mean Machine.
Mean Machine, not to be outdone, showed some attacking flare of there own with the ever tireless Daz Cook constantly running at players it was inevitable that another goal would come as Daz had a shot brilliantly saved by Arfan, the rebound fell to Lee whose shot was blocked again by the GK but the second rebound fell to Daz who didn’t miss the 2nd chance to give them a 4-2 lead at the break.
Inter Girls came out the strongest in the second half with Andy hitting the post early on before Lee K forcing 2 fine saves from the star goalkeeper Anthony. Mean Machine took a while before they finally had a chance and what a chance it was, Lee was one on one with Arfan and he rounded him superbly on the edge of the area but somehow managed to get the ball caught up in his feet and mess his shot up, he made amends though a few minutes later as he blasted in his second of the final in a fitting ending for the big guy.
Mean Machine sat back after that and soaked up the pressure, in particularly from the main threat of Lee Konrath who hit the woodwork again as he constantly looked to score but it wasn’t to be as Inter Girls lost there second final in two seasons. Better luck next year lads.
