UPBEAT Gosford Manager Ross Morrison was in buoyant mood going into this game with 3 wins on the trot including a comfortable win over league high fliers Ziggy Tooters.
Something Else however has had an indifferent season unable to find any consistency. A win tonight would see S.Else remain in contention for the league title.
The game got off to a slow pace with neither team really finding their feet and some woeful passing from both teams set the standard for the opening 5 mins. It was Gosford Green that opened the scoring though with a quick break after Steve Reece had fired just wide, It jumped started Something Else into life in particular in form player of the moment Danny Thomson, who quickly replied with two of his usual long range efforts, and it wasn’t long before he grabbed his hat trick, with some neat football with Steve Reece and a lovely return ball from Reece leaving an easy finish for ‘Thommo’.
Just before the break and Gosford Green managed to show they meant business and were going to push S.Else all the way with some good football of there own, a good one-two down the right between Ross Morrison and De Jong saw De Jong finish coolly in the bottom corner.
The second Half produced a half of total domination and it was again Danny Thomson who proved to be the thorn in the side, every thing he hit seemed to go in whether it was from inside his own half or from the acutest of angles, his goal tally eventually ended in 8 with the final score being 9-3, the pick of the bunch though coming from Steve Reece who’s delightful run past 3 players ended in sending the keeper the wrong way.
5star promotions said: "S.Else are always a tough team to beat so it was a good benchmark for Gosford as they now know what is needed to beat the top tier teams".
