Ziggy Tooters
Missing Brendon and Ash to injury
ZIGGY Tooter’s hopes of silverware were dealt a massive blow as Gosford Green kept up there unbeaten run in the CLUB HEAT Premier Division of 3 games played and 3 games won.
Manager Will Davies had warned his team they needed to tighten up there defence, but that again proved to be their Achilles Heel as L.De Jong found his scoring boots to bag 4 goals in Gosford Greens comfortable 10-5 win.
Ziggy Tooters have been looking a little off form in recent weeks and with Star player Ellis Alleyne again missing matters weren’t helped. It was down To Will Davies to lift the spirits and he gave it his best shot scoring the first goal and nearly grabbing a second moments later, L De Jong and A. England were the star performers for Gosford Green, England putting in a man of the match performance to go alongside his 2 goals, with Shakeshaft and Morrison both scoring 2 apiece.
Ziggy Tooters had Manager Will Davies to thank for his hat trick and Rees’s 2 goals but it wasn’t enough to keep them from conceding there 4th defeat of the season.
The first half saw Ziggy having much of the play and creating the chances but Keeper Ian Clelland kept the scores respectable with a string of good saves, unfortunately Ziggy Tooters have an abundance of attacking force but no defensive cover for the missing Bishop and that showed as nearly every attack Gosford made they produced a goal, the half time score of Gosford Green 3-2 Ziggy Tooters was perhaps an unfair showing. The second half however was very much a one sided affair with Gosford Green sensing Ziggy were losing there heads and capitalised on every mistake and opportunity to get at the lack of defence and produced a fantastic second half performance to eventually come out 10-5 winners.
ECCC who are the only other team to remain unbeaten in 6 games will be looking over there shoulders if Gosford can keep up there impressive form in there first season.
Will Davies was not amused with his teams performance as he was heard bemoaning “I don’t understand what’s happening, why do we keep letting so many goals in?”
Ross Irvin was ecstatic after another win saying “Now we have a keeper we look like a proper team, once we have all our players turn up who knows!”
5star promotions seem to be impressed with Gosford Green especially after there first friendly when they were outplayed by first Division opposition, but to go 3 games unbeaten in there first season in 5aside is a credit to the players. Let’s hope they can keep it up and give ECCC something to worry about.
