Full strength team, new boy Lewis making debut

Man of the Match Lewis (Zion Knights) netted a crucial equaliser as Zion Knights produced another gut churning performance to grasp themselves a precious 2 points against high flying Walsgrave Boys.

It was no more than they deserved against tough opposition and though they slip to third from bottom there’s a confidence and belief within the side suggesting a top half finish is within there capabilities.
The Zion Knights played second fiddle before the interval and could not complain when Ian returning from a 4 match ban, fired the Walsgrave Boys into an early lead, But some luck helped The Zion Knights to a worthy leveller through Theo. It was Ian and Big Ady that responded better though scoring within minutes of the restart to give the Walsgrave Boys a 3-1 lead, this sparked the Knights into life and some good chances went begging with some excellent goalkeeping from stand in Goalkeeper Andy Harbourne. He was helpless though for Zion Knights 2nd goal of the game With Lewis grabbing a goal back for them 3-2, just before the break though Ian scored his second of the night making the half time score 4-2 to Walsgrave Boys.
It was the Zion Knights who opened the second Half the brighter, although The Walsgrave Keeper was hardly called into action as much as he should have, but when he was called upon the Zion Boys found him almost impossible to beat, It was Vivian though who managed to break the duck and slot the ball past Andy 4-3. Vivian grabbed his 2nd of the night to level the game 4-4 prompting the influential Andy to come out of goal to try and salvage something. Within minutes though his temper got the better of him giving away a silly foul which led to Zion Knights taking the lead for the first time through Theo. Walsgrave Boys hit back within minutes with the pacey Curtis creating havoc and scoring twice in quick succession, 6-5 to Walsgrave Boys. A somewhat fortunate goal helped level things again when Lewis appeared to enter the area, unseen by the referee the goal stood much to the dismay of the Walsgrave Boys. A penalty then for Zion Knights gave them a 7-6 lead but 2 goals from Curtis and Ady looked to be sending Walsgrave boys to a win but for the tireless Lewis, The skilful attacker used his pace and quick feet to get away from the defence and equalise with only minutes left to secure a much deserved draw.

5star promotion says: Walsgrave Boys will need to show more of the same good sportsmanship as they did in this game and shore up there defence with a permanent Keeper.

Walsgrave Boys manager Eddie said afterwards, “It should have been all over at half time, we are well gutted!”

The Zion Knights were happy with the result saying “Some of the tackles were hard but we didn’t give in”
