THE GAME of the night saw new look Excelsior battle Ziggy Tooters.

Team News
Excelsior
Key men Curtis and Danny Bell both start.
Ziggy Tooters
Full strength

It was Ziggy Tooters began the brighter of the two sides and started to apply the pressure from the first whistle creating some clear cut chances but there are only so many times Ziggy could rue their luck and once again there fate lay firmly in their own hands.
After taking an excellent 3rd minute lead through Brendan, Ellis Allanye had a great chance to double the lead after a one on one with the keeper before Ash Downing struck the inside of the left hand post, only to see the ball bounce out and across the goal. It wasn’t long before Ash Downing did put the ball in the back of the net to make it 2-0 to Ziggy Tooters. The 2 goal advantage didn’t last long though before Danny Bell produced his fine goalscoring form to pull a goal back, before supplying new boy Curtis for the equaliser. Ziggy Tooters began to apply the pressure but once again there finishing let them down, it was Ellis that restored the Ziggy lead with a clever turn before firing the ball low into the bottom corner, within 2 minutes Danny Bell equalised again with a fierce long shot. It was still Ziggy Tooters looking the better but all credit to Excelsior especially Gavin at the back keeping out the frustrated Ziggy strikers. It was Excelsior that took the lead however through Dennis, and then, just as it seemed they would be going in at the break in the lead a sloppy challenge gave away a free kick which Ellis dually slotted home.

The second half saw Excelsior put together some good passes and began keeping the ball better, and an excellent counter attack from Curtis setting up Danny to score after some sloppy goalkeeping from Reece in the Ziggy goal 5-4 to Excelsior.
It was Curtis for Excelsior that began to take control, Ziggy boys gave him far too much space at times and he obliged by running at them at every opportunity resulting in some careless tackles particularly from Mark Dodd. Ziggy new boy Kyle found some space on the edge of the box and with nobody closing him down nicely picked his spot to equalise 5-5. Jez gave Excelsior a 6-5 lead within minutes of the restart with a long effort that caught Reece off guard but Brendan found the net to level the game once more. It was end to end stuff with neither team managing to stamp their authority on the game.
For all there earlier pressure and there failing to finish there chances it became clear that  Ziggy were beginning to look tired and it was all that was needed for Excelsior to make there move with Dennis out running Will at the back to give Excelsior the lead 7-6. Finally someone took control, unfortunately for Ziggy it came from Excelsior, and Curtis and Danny Bell in particular as they began to run the game, it was Danny and Dennis that scored the final 2 goals in a pulsating game that shows Excelsior are definitely not just in it to get fit. Ziggy will feel frustrated at the wasted opportunities and will need to find there shooting boots to keep up with the rest of the big guns.

5star Promotions say: "DESPITE playing only two games and losing both with some woeful displays, Excelsior manager Gavin Lee and Top scorer Danny Bell still believe the CLUB HEAT premier Division is within there grasp, and after this performance that might not seem so ludicrous"

Excelsior manager Gavin said:  “We now have an excellent squad and feel we will be more than a match for any team”.

Ziggy T manager Will said: "We are extremley disappointed but we know no we can't afford any more slip ups".
