S.Else v Shadows

S.Else runners up in season 03 faced champions Shadows in what already looked an 8 pointer even in week 1. The odds looked to an even game as Something Else was boosted by the talented Danny Thompson, although they have lost 'Big Jim' to retirement they looked a fresh hungry young outfit. Shadows on the other hand swamped the awards in season 03 and in house uncertainty is showing amongst this cosmopolitan team.

The game was close as expected. The Shadows started off the stronger keeping the ball well in their usual fluent style but just seemed to be missing the final penetration that injured Brian would usually give them.
S.Else had on some explosive fire power on display with key players, Steve, Dave and Danny on show it wasn't long before S.Else took the lead and they dually obliged with Steve Reece netting.
The Shadows showed defensive frailties as Something Else had chance after chance, but a mixture of poor finishing and excellent goalkeeping kept them from enhancing their lead and you playing the shadows if you don't tuck your chances away early... you are in for a long night! And this was the case.
Melussi and Muzzi become more and more influential in the game and started to cause major problems for Something Else but credit to Something Else's defence particularly Andy in goal and defender Mark Lea who needed to show his experience under the African's pressure. The game ended a thrilling 4-4 draw and the final outcome was probably just deserved for both teams.
Both teams showed their ambitions for title glory but on this display Something Else could finally end the dominance of the Shadows
