New signing Amish made his debut to replace The Mallett Hallett who is on sabbatical, also draft pick Lee was finally able to be called upon. after several months out. However Scott, who was scheduled to start the match, was AWOL and has still not been heard from since.
The game opened at a quick pace and The Godfather himself opened the scoring blasting into the the roof of the net via a Luke spillage.
Allstars quickly equalised however the rest of the half was all Gulls as Konrath made no mistake taking the Gulls in the the break 2-1 up.
Immediately after the break Konraths perfectly weighted back heeled was smashed into the bottom corner by the Showstopper.
3-1 to Gulls and sailing.
The start of the second half saw the introduction of Hitman Hart to the action who looked sharp, but perhaps lacking the killer instinct in front of goal, the A-Stars started to claw their way back into the game, however Gulls were having chances but after the excellent first half, were not taking any of them, after a howler from Amish let in the A-stars for the equaliser, Lee then also made a crucial slip to gift the A-Stars the lead.
The Gulls were then chasing the game and Frost and Barr played a one two before Luke saved the shot however his momentum carried his legs out of the area for a blatant penalty, Frost and Barr from a couple of yards appealed but to no avail as the Ref waved play on much to their astonishment.
After that the game more or less petered out in the final few minutes, with the Gulls chasing the game but the A-Stars defence holding firm. after the match Barr and Frost questioned the Ref's decision on the penalty claim but he said "it was a matter of opinion"
Gulls statement... Reffing is not about opinions, its about making decisions based on the rules and regulations of the game. this particular rules clearly says if both keepers legs are outside the box its a penalty. if the Ref did not see it, fair enough, as they may have been unsighted but for a Ref to make the claim it is a matter of opinion something is very wrong.
How can two players from a couple of yards see something that a Ref who is further away see something different?
